Last Time

Last time I was going to sleep upstairs, Shadow bloated for the last time. I didn’t end up sleeping up here.

Tonight I am. I am hoping for several hours of much needed, uninterrupted sleep. Kris will get his chance tomorrow night.

Good night!

Camping!

Actual real camping! In a tent, with fires and even cooked over some coals. 🙂

It was a lot of fun. We arrived on Friday night at Trillium Lake Campground just in time to get our camp and tent set before darkness fell. Then we lit a fire and roasted some marshmallows! We chatted and just had a grand time.

At bedtime I changed into pajamas which were not warm enough. I was cold most of the night and my feet never stayed warm. 🙁  Even with Twitch in my sleeping bag at my feet they were still cold, warmer then when he left, but still cold. In the morning I shoved Twitch into my sleeping bag next to me because he was laying between Kris and I shivering. He should have stayed at my feet!

The next day I felt kind of crappy since I didn’t sleep well. We walked around the lake and then I took a nap. It was nice to sleep and be warm. The weather warmed up to the low 70s during the day.

After a nap we took the kayaks down to the lake and paddled around for an hour or so.

The view did not suck. 😉

Back to camp, a little cleanup and then some dinner. Hot dogs over an open flame. Yum!

At bedtime I slept in my clothes. Wind pants, long sleeves, sweatshirt and two pairs of socks. I put a hand warmer in between the sock layers too. I was much warmer and much better rested the next day! Twitch spent part of the night in my sleeping bag again. 🙂

Sunday dawned chilly and we made breakfast then Kris and I went for a walk to work off some of Twitch’s energy. Got back and broke camp to head home. On the road by 10am. I would have been ok with sitting around the fire a bit longer but Scot had dumped the last of the wood in the fire pit to make a huge blaze with flames 4 feet high.

It took 3 hours or so to unpack, rinse and hang up all our stuff once we got home.

All in all a good time.

Next time I will plan my clothing better. Sweatshirts for hanging around the fire and sleeping in. Two sock layers with hand warmers. 🙂

I will take two 5 gallon jugs of water, one for handwashing and one for drinking water. That will give more room in the coolers for food stuffs.  We can expand our menu a bit that way.

I will bring a pan of some kind and a French press coffee maker for coffee.
I will bring an xpen and extra mat for the dog(s). Connecting them to benches and chairs was moderately successful.

I will bring food toys and Twitch’s shirt. He was chilly in the evenings, though he liked being stuffed in my sweatshirt. 🙂

A larger tent would be nice. Not too much larger but big enough for some gear and maybe our suitcase with clothes in it. Or a popup canopy with sides for privacy and to keep critters out.

But it’s good to be back in my own bed. 🙂

Sometimes…

I want to write a post because I’m less tired than other nights and then I open this app to write, and nothing comes to mind.

I ran 5 miles last night. We have a 10K (6 miles) on Sunday North of Seattle. I am undecided about running tomorrow at this point. It will depend on how my knees feel, probably should have iced them tonight. I would much rather go work on some speed drills with Twitch in a big field but it’s supposed to be 95 degrees tomorrow.

We hid inside tonight. I fully planned to go for a walk or do something more active but he got comfy on my lap while I was finishing watching my dinner TV show. So I had to watch another, couldn’t disturb the little guy now could I?

I am behind two or three months on my Clean Runs again. One of the articles looks good too. Maybe I will try to read it at lunch tomorrow.

Saturday my friend Ahelby is competing with Squall in his first CPE trial. I’m going to go and watch their first run and then head for Seattle to meet up with Kris at the Lande’s.

Oh, we did go to the beach on Labor Day. Spent the day walking the beach and even drove on the beach! Twitch did so well too with all the people and other dogs. He listened very well!  I thought for sure he would bark at the waves but he didn’t. He did bark at the crashing waves in this one hollow area. Had to put him on leash because I thought he might get too close and get washed away in a wave.

This is where he really wanted to get in and bite the waves. NOT a good idea.

Three Pools Project

Two more trips to Three Pools for my photo project. Started in Feb this year and have gone every other month since to take pics in the same spots.

We went on Saturday and Jason came along with us. We left early to hopefully beat everyone else out there and we did. The lot was empty when we arrived! We cleaned up some trash first at the lower pools and then I shot my photos. There was no one else there so we let Twitch run around off leash which he enjoyed.

Then we walked up the trail, stopped in a few spots for more pictures and then finished at the upper pool. We picked up more trash and then decided to cross the river to the other side. I finally got to be in the most magical place ever! It’s like it was built in Disney or something it’s just so magical. As if it could only exist in a fairytale! Gentle streams flowing around and over moss covered rocks. Beautiful!

Before we even crossed the river I turned around to check on Twitch and he was wet! He had either fallen in or jumped in. After we crossed over this, one pool had pine needles floating on the surface. Twitch was catching up to me and decided he would take a shortcut over the needle covered “ground”. The look on his face when he found himself belly deep in cold water was priceless!! I wish I had snapped a pic of it but I was laughing too hard.

He also decided that the white water needed to be controlled and I do have a few pics of him trying to bite the water. Lower jaw submerged and all!
We walked all the way down to the first location but on the opposite side of the river. I had never been on that side of the river before. It is so neat to see how the water has carved out the rocks.

We picked up more trash and then left. By that time several groups had begun to arrive so we didn’t have the place to ourselves anymore.

Next we headed to Opal Creek for a hike. I thought it was 3 miles but it was 6! Oops. It was gorgeous and we found some neat new spots.

This spot looked like a natural water slide the way the water carved a path down the rocks.

The water is so clear up there!

This little wave was fun! Hard to tell in the pic but it blasts up about a foot from the surrounding rock.

This is the canyon leading into Opal Pool up near Jawbone Flats.

The forest road we walked on to get to the trails had these bridges with spacings in the wood that caused Twitch to slow down and carefully place his feet. The spacings were the perfect size to snag a Twitch foot! So Kris carried him. Twitch was so tired he just hung limply from the harness. Lol I am pretty sure Twitch would have liked someone to carry him the rest of the way by then.

This is old growth forest with large diameter trees that are very tall.

It was a great day, lots of fun and beautiful area! We were on our feet from about 9 am until 3:30. We had the short drive from Three Pools to the Opal Creek trailhead but otherwise we were climbing or walking the whole time. Probably covered 8 miles of rugged terrain that day.

Being Lazy

Sometimes I just want to be lazy. Just sit around and watch TV, let my mind relax and not think except to escape to some other place inside the story unfolding before my eyes.

But I am an adult and I have adulting  to do. Plus a pup that needs care.Watch Shark Exorcist (2016) Full Movie Online Streaming Online and Download

So I compromised. Ate my dinner in front of the TV. Took a break after that to play some games with Twitch.

Went back to TV for another episode, then break for more games and dremeled Twitch’s nails.

Another episode and then medicated Twitch’s feet, cleaned up the kitchen, refilled some water bottles and then got ready for bed.

Whew! Pretty busy for wanting a lazy evening at home. Tomorrow I am hoping to drag my ass out of bed for a run before work. Wish me luck!
