Palouse Falls

Part two of our weekend jaunt into Washington.  We visited Palouse Falls, the state falls of Washington. The falls drop 198 feet into the canyon below. Carved from the great Missoula Flood during the last ice age, it’s one of the last falls from that great flood.  The river used to flow to the west of its current location but was changed during the flood.

It is sheer all through the canyon.

Chris and Kris were not thrilled about this location. Fear of heights and ledges and all.IMG_4631

See that gray strip in the middle left of the photo? I almost died there. Slipped about a foot on the loose gravel.

The land around the falls for miles is covered in grasslands.

We stayed for the sunset. I had hoped to see some amazing stars but the clouds moved in once the winds died down.
