Whine, whine, whine

I’m going to whine a bit.

After I got off the family call last night I played with the pups. After working with them, some dog (probably Vader) peed in the garage. I have cleaned up pee just about everyday for a week now and I’m sick of it. Either in the garage, the house or on the patio. So Vader is going back to restricted access to teach him that peeing in the garage is NOT ok. Also my whole body hurts. My leg/foot hurts when in the boot. My left knee now has a sharp pain on bending even without weight bearing. My back hurts, my left foot hurts. I’m a mess and I’m about done with all this bullshit. But there is nothing I can do but keep on living this nightmare. I can’t walk, I can’t exercise the dogs properly, I shouldn’t drive and it hurts when I do. It’s a disaster!

At least it feels like it to me. I know it’s all minor stuff that will pass but fuck! It’s a whole bunch of bullshit all at once.

Ankle Break – Week 5

It was originally diagnosed as a sprain but now it’s a break. I broke the anterior process of the calcaneus. The calcaneus is the large bone in the heel of your foot. So not a huge deal but still a big deal. A big deal because of the boot.

I have to wear a walking boot for four weeks and I’m 5 days in. Yuck! My left knee is really sore and my back is killing me. I’m a wreck.

I did manage to a et up some weaves tonight and work the dogs for a bit. The trick is to do some stuff, then sit and raise my foot for an hour, then get up and do more stuff. I managed to get three loads of laundry done, dishes and dog food toys washed and played with the pups. Took all evening but I guess that’s the way it’s gonna be  for a while.

I’m bummed because I can’t do Vader’s class tile I get out of the boot. Uneven surfaces are killer!

In addition to my knee and back, my right foot (the broken one) is hurting more now. I’ve had some pain in the front of my foot and my heel hurts all the time. Yuck!

Ankle Sprain – No Wait

Went to the Ortho doc yesterday to see where I was at and maybe start some PT. Instead I got the boot. A walking boot that is.

Turns out I broke the anterior process of the calcaneus bone. The calcaneus bone is the big heel bone in the foot. The twisting, falling and rolling of my ankle caused the small tendon connected to that process, to rip it off basically. Like this.
That v shape where the arrow is pointing is the break but this isn’t my X-ray. On mine it was a thin black line. No idea what it might look like now after walking on it for a week. Sigh.

Four more weeks of the walking boot. Ugh!!

Ankle Sprain Week 4

This is the beginning of week four of my sprained ankle.  Swelling is gone by morning but returns with slight swelling during the day. Toes are still bruised looking too.

My heel feels bruised because the standing I have done is on my heel instead of balanced between toes and heel. That’s because the toes still hurt to put weight on them.

I can walk just fine in straight lines, well ok I can walk mostly normal in straight lines but it does hurt with each step. Turning corners or uneven surfaces are still problematic. It hurts to correct at that level of precision.

I still can’t cross my legs by putting pressure on that ankle. Also sitting on the ground on knees or cross legged doesn’t work. It makes working with the pups tough because I can’t kneel on the ground. So I’ve been sitting on a stool.

I haven’t been able to do much agility training with the pups because I can’t run and the uneven surfaces in the yard cause me to lose my balance and/or hurts my foot. Not sure how class with Vader will go on Sunday. The good thing about Vader’s class is that we aren’t doing much sequencing, unlike Twitch’s class which I can’t even do because of uneven footing and running. Can’t run yet.

Tomorrow the 6th of July, I see an orthopedic doctor to make sure healing is going well and hopefully start some PT. So all in all healing and moving along but wish it would move faster.

Ankle sprain day 11

My foot is almost back to normal size! Yay!  Still lots of colors that don’t belong but slowly improving.

I am definitely tired of this though. Today my back and knees have really been bothering me. Plus both heels feel bruised and I think that’s because I’m not standing midfoot but more heel. When I shift forward to toes, then my foot hurts. Sigh. I think tomorrow I will call a doctor about some PT to see if we can help everywhere else and make sure I’m healing well.
